This week we are reading; <Night on the Reef>
A boy and his family lives on one of the western islands, there family was very poor so the father had to go
fishing in the night and at dawn the boy would have to sell the fish. If they are not sold they eat the fish, the
family also had a banana plantation. The boy wanted to go help catch fish with his father. When the boy
was eight his father decided that he was old enough to go with him to catch fish. They used spears to stab
the fish and put them into two old sacks. The wind blew the waves up to his armpits. The boy and his father
both were in the water and the waves were so big they couldn’t see the canoe, so the father prayed to God
to see the canoe. They made it to the canoe but with no fish and a lot of cuts and bruises.
